What this slab measurement calculator does

How slab area is calculated
The maths is simple, and it’s worth understanding so you can trust the numbers. Area is length × width. When you measure in inches, the result is in square inches, which is then divided by 144 to convert to square feet (because one square foot is 12 × 12 = 144 square inches).
For example, a slab measuring 25 × 25 inches works out to 625 square inches, which is 625 ÷ 144 = 4.34 square feet. A 25 × 36 inch slab is 900 square inches, or 6.25 square feet. If you measure directly in feet, the length × width already gives square feet, so no conversion is needed. The calculator handles both — you just pick the unit.
Why measure material by material
Grouping slabs under each stone type isn’t just tidy — it’s how orders are actually priced and cut. Different materials have different rates, come from different lots, and are billed separately. By keeping each material in its own group with its own subtotal, the final sheet matches how you quote and how the customer pays, and it makes checking the order against the delivered slabs far easier.
